Kinross-shire Trishaws and Community Cycling organises cycling based recreational activities on bicycles, tricycles and adapted bikes. We aim to improve the quality of life for local people of all ages and abilities - improving physical and mental health and general wellbeing.
Our projects bring people together, foster a sense of belonging, drive social change, build local skills and knowledge, develop leadership, and improve confidence, esteem, and resilience together with improving mental and physical health. We are not aiming to develop “cyclists”, but rather, to use the medium of cycling in its various forms to improve peoples lives and increase social capital.

We offer our local primary schools the opportunity to develop a “bike bus” to enable children and families to travel actively to school. A bike bus is an organised group cycle on a set route with timetabled stops along the way. Cycling to school in the bike bus increases physical activity and enables children to arrive at school feeling refreshed and ready to learn. This contributes to improved child physical and mental health. The bike buses will increase community spirit and provide safety in numbers – especially those that may not feel confident enough to make the journey by bike alone, but can manage as part of a larger, more visible group.

They're amazing for health— getting people moving outdoors while boosting mood and creating friendships. With adapted bikes like hand-cycles and tandems, these programs break down barriers and build confidence. Families love them too—they create special moments together that might not happen otherwise. The best part? Everyone belongs, and everyone benefits!
We are in the process of fundraising for a range of all ability bicycles, tricycles and adapted bikes for children and adults that have disabilities or health conditions that make it difficult to cycle a standard bike. The adapted bikes enable those with balance and coordination issues, vision issues or mobility issues to enjoy and experience cycling.

Want to know why guided cycling trips are so fantastic? You get to explore amazing places without stressing about getting lost or missing the good stuff! Your knowledgeable guides share stories about local history and take you to those special spots tourists never find. You'll build skills and confidence with friendly experts watching your back, plus make new friends who love cycling just as much as you do! Whether you're just starting out or you've been riding for years, these trips let you focus on the fun parts while someone else creates the routes and guides you to the all the best places. Our guided rides are of varying distances to make them inclusive for those just starting out or those that can go a bit further, and everything in between. These are suitable for local people and visitors to the area and are held on a variety of terrain utilising local 'cycling friendly' green routes.

We believe that cycling is a life skill that every child should have (similar to swimming). Once children can cycle, it is a skill that can easily be refreshed later in life and can promote and increase health over a lifetime. Many children, especially those that encounter poverty or deprivation or have disabilities do not own or have access to a bicycle or learning to ride a bike. As they get older, many children question whether or not they can ever ride as they develop social comparisons between themselves and their peers resulting in lower esteem and levels of self-worth, perceived competence and confidence. These children lose out on the chance to gain valuable road safety skills and knowledge. In later life, cycling can be an inexpensive way to get to work and enable adults to take up employment. Our learn to ride sessions will be based upon the highly successful Cycling Scotland “Play on Pedals” and Bikeability programmes.
